Microbiology research and M Guide - Resources and Review

Journal dedicated to the dissemination of research dealing with the tropical and subtropical waters of the world's oceans. All aspects of marine biology are treated, and papers in the physical, chemical and geological sciences are also published if pertinent to marine biology. Major fields of interest are zoology, botany, microbiology, biochemistry, and fisheries. Areas of particular interest include experimental ecology, ecological dynamics, theoretical biology, genetics, systematics, evolution, biogeography, behaviour, molecular biology, and physiology.

Bacteriophages are viruses whose hosts are bacterial cells. They are metabolically inert in their extracellular form and they reproduce by insinuating themselves into the metabolism of the host. Includes pages indexed by family, as defined by genome type and virion morphology, resources for teachers and a brief history of bacteriophage research.

Twice monthly periodical devoted to publishing research on genetics and molecular biology, structure and function, enzymes and proteins, physiology and metabolism, cell surfaces, plant microbiology, plasmids and transposons, bacteriophages, eukaryotic cells, population genetics, and evolution.

Journal devoted to antimicrobial, antiviral, antiparasitic, and anti
cancer agents and chemotherapy, aimed at microbiologists, pharmaceutical researchers, biochemists, pharmacologists, clinicians, and other specialists in infectious diseases. Abstracts and tables of contents available.

Bi
weekly journal including original research in molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer research, cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, immunology, neurobiology, plant biology, structural biology and virology. Table of contents and abstracts online.

An article setting out the findings of a study into eukaryotes in extreme environments. The major headings under which the data are organised are Anaerobes, Thermophiles, Psychrophiles, Acidophiles, Alkalophiles, Halophiles, Barophiles and Xerophiles.

Journal covering research on the microbiological aspects of human and animal infections and infestations, with emphasis on their etiologic agents, diagnosis, and epidemiology. Abstracts and tables of contents available.

A collection of over 70 journals covering topics including botany, physiology, psychiatry, chemistry, pharmacology, genetics, microbiology and neuroscience. Tables of contents and abstracts from current and recent issues are freely available online, with full text available to subscribers. Archives of many titles are also available.

Monthly online journal, covering topics such as genetics, molecular biology, mycology, physiology and enzymes. Offers contents and abstracts for current and back issues. Subscription required for full text articles.

Monthly journal devoted to the advancement and dissemination of fundamental knowledge concerning (i) infections caused by pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and parasites; (ii) mechanisms of pathogenicity and virulence factors such as toxins and microbial surface structures; (iii) factors involved in host resistance inflammation and susceptibility to infection; (iv) immunology of microbial infection; and (v) development and evaluation of vaccines against pathogens.

The official journal of the International Committee on Systematic Bacteriology of the International Union of Microbiological Societies. IJSB publishes articles concerning the systematics of bacteria, yeasts and yeast
like organisms, including taxonomy, nomenclature, identification, characterisation, and culture preservation. Published quarterly.

Facility to search tables of contents and abstracts of ASM journals which cover antimicrobial agents and chemotherapy, applied and environmental microbiology, clinical and diagnostic laboratory immunology, and clinical microbiology reviews.

Includes information on the institutes three product
independent departments; General Food Technology and Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Food Process Engineering, and links to product related departments including Meat Technology and Dairy Technology.

This service provides networked access to the BIOSIS Previews database, which is the electronic version of Biological Abstracts, the largest printed reference publication for life sciences research information, and Biological Abstracts/RRM (Reports, Reviews, Meetings), the companion printed reference to books, meetings, and research reviews. Thousands of life science journals, as well as international meetings and books from more than 90 countries, are monitored for inclusion in BIOSIS Previews. The database contains bibliographic information from 1985 onwards for traditional areas of biology such as botany, zoology, and microbiology, as well as related fields such as agriculture, pharmacology, biophysics, ecology, bioengineering, and experimental clinical medicine. Subscription required.

The Dutch node of the Microbial Information Network Europe (MINE), CBS maintains and distributes collections of cultures such as fungi, yeasts, bacteria, phabagen, aphyllophorales and fusarium. Databases can be searched by species name, strain number, or properties of species and strains. Also provides identification and research services, and offers consultancy, information services and training courses.

Set of links to journals relevant to microbiology. Some have only subscription information online, others have tables of contents, abstracts or full text.
